A story of jumping, photography, the internet and me on a CD

I used to have a thing for jumping photos. I’d photograph my friends jumping and get them to photograph me jumping. Don’t scoff, it’s quite normal. The jumping project group i started in Flickr now has over 2000 members and 3500 photos.

Anyway. In March last year i was on holiday in Chicago. Wandering the streets with my friend Terri i get the inspiration to take a jumping photo. I hand Terri my camera, i leap in the air, a jumping photo is taken.

Freedom of jumping

Months later, back home in Sydney, i get an email from a fellow in Ireland. He represents a band called Leya. They saw my jumping photo on the internet and would like to use it in the artwork for their forthcoming album, Watch You Don’t Take Off. Sounds daft, but ok i say.

About a year later, i’ve all but forgotten about the exchange but stumble across the Leya website. I discover the CD is out and look who’s jumping silhouette is on it!

Leya CD

It’s a funny old world innit.
