I used to have a thing for jumping photos. I’d photograph my friends jumping and get them to photograph me jumping. Don’t scoff, it’s quite normal. The jumping project group i started in Flickr now has over 2000 members and 3500 photos.
Anyway. In March last year i was on holiday in Chicago. Wandering the streets with my friend Terri i get the inspiration to take a jumping photo. I hand Terri my camera, i leap in the air, a jumping photo is taken.
Months later, back home in Sydney, i get an email from a fellow in Ireland. He represents a band called Leya. They saw my jumping photo on the internet and would like to use it in the artwork for their forthcoming album, Watch You Don’t Take Off. Sounds daft, but ok i say.
About a year later, i’ve all but forgotten about the exchange but stumble across the Leya website. I discover the CD is out and look who’s jumping silhouette is on it!
It’s a funny old world innit.
It is a funny world indeed… Now you have something to show your grandkids heh… Coolness
I was wondering what the story behind that picture on flickr was. Congrats!
you’ll be on the new U2 album cover next.
Did they send you a copy of the CD to frame with the original photo?
I don’t know about framing it, but yes, they’ve promised to send me some CD’s.
yay for jumping photos!
hehehe…
can you go on tour with them as a jumper?
I miss your jumping shots.
only you, boudi, only you.
so proud to be part of the boudist empire right now.
As metrosexual as this sounds, you’re an inspiraion for me right now!
…but you still smell like wee.
Whenever you get a dizzy spell it could be because people are listening to the CD….now you’re going round’n’round, not just jumping up and down!…..
Love the jump … never leave that inner child! Cool bloggy too ~ the read & black really punches my buttons, natch.
Smooch,
The Tart
