Expatriate‘s debut album In The Midst of This is out this week in Australia.

I’ve been a long time fan of the band – first seeing them 2 years ago at a gig with Cut Copy and i’ve mentioned them a bit since then. They are Boudist endorsed.

These are some rather impromptu photos i took of them in January. They’ve since done a shoot with LA based Aussie expat Nabil Elderkin as well as Ian Jennings. My pics are rather ordinary by comparison, so i don’t think you’ll be seeing them anywhere but here.

To promote the release of the new album Expatriate are embarking on a national tour in June. Dates are on their myspace. Do check them out.

  2. I like your promo shots. Isn’t it all about fashion…guess it always has been? I love Max Vadukal http://www.maxvadukul.com . Seems to be an arrogant twat (he can afford to be) but he certainly shoots well. In my own narrow minded way I seem to hold blokes like Ian Jennings (and yourself) in much higher regard than other fashion/music photographers purely because they shoot good live stuff. Like some kind of cred test judged by me that they would all be desperate to pass and record companies would listen and only use images that were shot by photographers who were deemed to have ‘cred’ as per my guidelines because it wasn’t all about packaging/marketing. Just my jealousy having a chop at that tall poppy!
    Looking forward to the new album too.

    and yes i am the kind of fan that buys the album on the day it comes out and reads the liner notes word for word 🙂

  7. Roshan – i didn’t know i got a thank you! That’s really cool. I’ve only got the promo copy of the album so far, without all the liner notes.
