Last night i attended the Jack Awards nominations at the Gaelic Club. I was taking photos as per usual.
The music industry crowd seemed to enjoy the free booze and networking but were rather bemused by Airbourne’s big pub rock show. I love their over the top show, fireworks and all, but most of the crowd stayed up the back chatting.
There doesn’t appear to be a ‘Best Live Music Photographer’ category this year as there has been in previous years. It’s a shame since i’m not aware of any other award in Australia that recognises that pursuit close to my heart. I guess it was just getting predictable with Tony Mott winning it every year.

Kick ass Airbourne shots as usual. You use the 5D for em?
I’m surprised about no Metro Theatre for NSW.
Sarah Blasko missed out on making the best-dresed list ?
James – yeah, this was my first outing with the 5D. So far so good.
Oz – I’m not that surprised The Metro didn’t get a nod. They’ve had a run of bad press with lots of money owed to artists, plus a change of ownership. I think it’s reputation has been tarnished somewhat because of that. It is a great room though. It’s also good to see some non sydney inner city venues get recognised like the Cambridge and Oxford Hotel.
Blake – i’m with you. I think Tim Rogers could have made way for her.
