It’s been some time since i’ve taken party snaps at Purple Sneakers – but when i was asked to shoot the 100th Sneakers i figured i ought to. I was there on the first night almost two years ago – taking snaps for the street press. Like most party nights i expected it would make a brief splash, then fall out of favour and disappear.
But the Boundary Sounds folks that run it proved the naysayers wrong – it’s more popular than ever, with a queue snaking around the block late into every Friday night.
Martin, Alastair, Mirna and everyone else who makes it happen every week deserve a lot of credit for consistenly putting on a good night for a notorioulsy fickle crowd.
The fact they’re such hardworking, genuine and fun loving people comes through in the spirit of their events and is the foundation of their success.

Where do I get one of those hats?
I love the photo of the passed-out couple.
…Poor kids
Hey, I hear you’re on the Bridge tonight?
Go Boud!
Who is that girl with the legs and the eyes…? Hmmna hmmna gurgle….
Blake – Yeah, i felt a little rude snapping the sleeping couple, but i thought it was cute and showed a nice unguarded moment. Plus it shows the nature of Sneakers that you can just pass out on a couch.
And yes – i’m on FBI tonight. Just assembling some tunes to play now…
How do you do it Dan? I’ve tried doing the ‘social photo’ thing on a couple of occassions and somehow I end up surrounded by obnoxious drunk twits wanting to pose, and the girls are worse than the guys….maybe its a Newcastle thing..hah..
Trust me – i deal with my fair share of twits. I just have fun with it, have a few drinks and seek out the interesting looking people, and the ones on the dancefloor.
