Here’s some photos i took of Dan Sultan while i was working as the stills photographer on Foxtel’s Who We Are series.
We spent a morning at the Harold Park tram sheds which is a beautiful derelict space housing several crumbling graffiti covered old Sydney trams. Yes, Sydney trams.
In the afternoon the shoot moved to Jackson’s Rare Guitars in Annandale.
The crew also filmed Dan’s show at the Factory Theatre in Marrickville.
Here’s the seven minute portrait of Dan produced for Foxtel.
It’s directed by Dei El Ayoubi and Director of Photography is Tony Luu.
It was such a pleasure working on this job. Dan’s such a gentleman, and the crew were bloody brilliant.
Ooh I love that location, cheer up Sultan.
Did you use the beauty dish here?
The ones with flash are with a ring flash i hired.
Dan these are friggin incredible. I’ve seen them be used by Dan Sultan around the traps. And the resulting video is amazing. Probably my favourite out of this series so far. I wish I was in Sydney to be on set for this one! Nice work.
Hey Elleni, yeah Dan’s such a great character, it was a pleasure spending the day with him. Shame you couldn’t have been there for this one!
Hey Dan, which ringflash did you use? (if you remember!)
It was a profoto one. I think it was just called Profoto ringflash 2.
Was about to ask what light you were using. Is the old tram yard a freespace, or did you need to organize access?
For this shoot i’m sure they asked permission. But i know plenty of people who’ve just snuck in.
thanks for these beautiful pics of Dan Sultan, love the location
Those are some AMAZING pictures!
Great poses and angles 🙂
