I’ve been a little off my blogging game lately, having let this place lay dormant for the four months since I became a dad. One also questions whether an old fashioned blog like this is still necessary in an era of Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter and the myriad other forms of personal publishing. But onward I shall go!
So here’s some of my pictures from triple j’s Beat The Drum concert in The Domain, celebrating 40 years of the radio station.
It felt quite like a reprise of Homebake, with most of the artists having performed on the same stage in the past 10 years for the now defunct festival.
I loved seeing The Preatures take charge on the big festival stage, with lead singer Isabella Manfredi confidently stalking around showing no signs of being intimidated at performing in front of 25000 odd people. Divinyls guitarist Mark McEntee joined them for a cover of Boys in Town, which was pretty special as it was his return to the same stage where Divinyls played one of their last shows in 2007 at Homebake.
