One of the highlights of the New York visit was checking out the legendary CBGB’s. I wasn’t expecting to be so struck by it, having been to so many music venues in my time, but it really is something special. There was a great vibe amongst the crowd, partly due to the fact that it’s an all ages venue, lots of young rock kids just out having a good time. Plus the room is perfect for watching a band, a great PA and lighting rig, a stage which you can stand 180 degrees around, seating up the back if you want it, cheap beer and walls smothered in stickers and flyers from bands past and present.
The night i went i saw two bands, Locksley and The Blue Van. Locksley are unashamedly Beatlesesque with a great poppy harmonising which they used to great effect when they covered I Saw Her Standing There. The Blue Van are a Danish band that have got the retro rock thing down pat, but not in a tired way. Very entertaining.
There’s some photos in my CBGB’s gallery.
That pic of the stairs is amazing.
I love your website, photographs and articles,
Always waiting for the next one to be published…
There would be nice pictures to me taken here too, in Paris.
Regards and Rock’n’Roll.

Wow, small world.
So I got here from theknownuniverse, I’ve actually had your page bookmarked for quite a while and never fully checked it out, until today.
Now comes the coincidence, I went to high school with the guys in Locksley and recently just found out they are going to be here in LA and I am going to the show!
Great pics, great writing, I’ll be back.
That’s quite the coincidence. Welcome 🙂
I came across your website months ago, when I appeared in a photo you took back in August – and have been coming back every week. These shots are great – I love your rock photography, and these capture something dirty. Its hot.
