The Dandy Warhols at The Annandale

Courtney Taylor-Taylor

Last Monday I got an invitation at the last minute to go see The Dandy Warhols play a show at The Annandale. It was put on by Triple J in a venue smaller than they’d usually play, so it was quite a treat.

You can see my photos from the evening in The Dandy Warhols @ The Annandale gallery.

The stage lighting was particularly low and there was no security to stop me using flash so i experimented with it a little. I nearly always hate using flash for live stuff, but sometimes it’s either flash or no shot.

In other music related news The Strokes are playing a show at The Gaelic Club in Sydney on Wednedsday November 23. It’s not your regular gig – the only way to get tickets is at 9am the day before the show over the counter at Red Eye Records (66 King St, City) or Fish Records (261 King St Newtown). You must be at the ticketing outlet in person to get a wristband and ticket. Seems like a decent way to stop scalpers.

  1. Great shots DB.
Courtney looks yummy. But then again, I’ve always been partial to a skinny white boy.

  2. Dont tell everyone Dan! I’m hoping to rock up at 9o’clock and be the only one wanting a ticket LOL. God, i wonder how early youd have to get there??

  3. i wouldnt be worried about Dan tipping people off. Its plastered all over Fish in Newtown and was also printed in the Sunday papers.
Im bummed that I wont be able to go with my boy as he can only get a ticket for himself 🙁
I understand why they’re doing it, but it basically means its gonna be a gig full of uni students and nobody else will be able to go.
Meh, thats my whine for the day.

  4. well… let’s not all say how early we’re gonna queue up but it’d be funny to talk probablities about the whole thing.
Like, if there are only 300 tickets in each of the 2 venues – which one is most likely to have less people queueing at it.
If there’s only one ticket per person will people get particularly nasty about “minding spots” for people in the queue.
Perhaps I’ll construct a photo essay of the ordeal… 😉

  5. Yeah a 4am brawl outside Red Eye would make for some good shots!
