Do you remember The Scare? They’re a pretty intense screamo type band from Queensland who’ve spent most of the past year living in Birmingham in the UK. I’d liken them to a band like Young and Restless or Forward, Russia. Not the sort of thing you’d play for your grandmother, but highly entertaining to see perform.
They’re back home for a visit, touring Adelaide and the East coast. Dates are on their myspace.
These photos are from a little gig they played in Sydney last week at Phoenix Bar. I love shooting The Scare, so much energy and spontaneity. They’re the subject of one of my most popular live photos too, so i’ve quite a soft spot for em.

I like the contrast of the singer’s action and the crowd’s apparent indifference. Did the punters get more into it as the gig went on?
I saw them last year at 77 – they are indeed mega loco! I had to stand on a stool to see the gig and I fell off during the last song, knocked my beer over – gutted.
