The Whitlams and The Vasco Era

Last Friday i dropped by the Metro to snap a few pics of The Whitlams. It wasn’t really my cup of tea, so after a few songs i walked up the road to see The Vasco Era at Spectrum.

They’re very good – intense and bluesy in the recent tradition of The White Stripes and The Black Keys. The sweet demeanour and puppy dog eyes of the lead singer seem at odds with the tortured wails he lets out while singing.
You can listen to some tunes on myspace but they’re no match for the live show.

  1. I saw you at The Grates last night! Were you there on a photographic mission, or there to have a dance like the rest of us? They reek of good vibes.

  2. Yay! You finally have photos of the Vasco Era. Sid does some good covers of Radiohead and Neil Young when he feels like singing in a more ‘mellow’ way.

  3. Natali – it was an awesome show wasn’t it? I was there to take photos, but stuck around to watch the show. I hope to have some photos up later in the week,
Zosia – yep, he did a cover of Street Spirit by Radiohead which made for some good variety amongst the more rockin numbers.
