I’ll be at Sound Summit

Sound Summit

Check it out, i’m talking on a couple of panels at Sound Summit in Newcastle at the end of the month.

My panels are on the 30th September (also my birthday!) and are:

MUSIC BLOGGING : BEYOND THE PERSONAL AND INTO THE PROFESSIONAL

12.30pm – 2.30pm : Playhouse Theatre

Latest reports estimate 450,000 active bloggers in Australia – so who doesn’t have one and why not? How and when does a blog become more than just a diary? How are Artists using them effectively to better promote themselves and their art? What makes one blog more valid than another and within such a high-growth landscape when, if ever can it become too crowded?

and

SOUND SUMMIT, ELECTROFRINGE, NATIONAL YOUNG WRITERS FESTIVAL AND THE STUDENT AND EMERGING MEDIA CONFERENCE PRESENT: THE BIG BLOG OFF

3.00pm – 5.00pm : Festi Club

Your chance to join the largest collection of Australian bloggers ever assembled under one roof to discuss your mini e-media empires. Legals, practicalities, money, hosting, design, RSS, motivation and incestuous gossip. The full spectrum of blog trials and tribulations is up for discussion.

And if you’re not completely sick of blogs and bloggers by that point it’s followed by:

BLOGGERS BEERS AND BBQ

5.00pm – 6.00pm
Festi Club

Fun, fun, fun! I’ve never spoken on a panel at a conference before, so i’m honoured to be asked. I love talking blogs, and music, and social media and how we can exploit them all for the forces of good.

There’s also a heck of a lot of other events going on around the same time in Newcastle as part of the This Is Not Art festival.

  1. Dan, I might see you there. I got asked to speak at some of the S&EMC panels too, but it’s a mighty trek north…
I challenge you to a shoot-off in the event that I do make it.

  2. very interesting. great line up! dj gorky has been switching off sets w/ diplo on the recent tour.

  3. Happy birthday for the 30th. It is a popular day for births that day. The seminars sound cool. I don’t live in Australia anymore and will actually be in Okinawa when they are on (so excited!) but have a great time & let us know how they go!
Love your photos and am a bit out of touch with the Australian music scene now but have loved most of the bands you have provided links to and have actually bought several cd’s recently after reading your blog!!

  4. It sounds freakin’ awesome. Good work The Boud!! Happy birthday for the 30th, I you’d probably like to know that it’s my dad’s birthday today. He doesn’t have a blog, he just has kids… poor, poor excuse.

  5. I am bored of congratulating you! Still immemsely proud though Boud. Is the panel going to be recorded and digitally archived? Would make a wicked podcast.

  6. …or even immeNsely proud. But you can take immeMsely if you like. Po-tay-to, po-tar-to…

  7. Sweet. You should try and come to the panels too and ask some questions. I think it could get rather boring without some audience interaction.

  8. Hey guys I’m starting this new blog called The Blog Blog, it’s a blog about blogging, bloggers, blog technology, and the blog influence on mainstream society. I will also be blogging the development of my Anthropology PhD thesis entitled “The Blog: The Existential Self within and without Context in Cyberspace (Blogs!)”
