I saw Jamie T performing solo at Candy’s Apartment last week. It was an ‘intimate’ gig at a smaller venue than he could have played. The intimacy was a little shattered by the raucus Brit’s in the audience chanting and singing along. But it all added to the atmosphere and made for some good audience sing-along moments.
Jamie T opened his set with a cover of Billy Bragg’s A New England (mp3, not sure where this was recorded).
My mate Bobby reviewed the show for Drum.
I also saw Jamie T in full band mode at SXSW, which was quite a different experience. He’s entertaining in either capacity.
Looks like he’s fond of that lumberjack shirt of his.
I like the first shot, he’s got the note pinned to his shirt like that strange kid back in 1st grade at school..
I really enjoyed that gig, haven’t listened to the album so I didn’t really know what to expect. The atmosphere was great, but I was left a bit frustrated that half the time all I could hear were the pissed up English contingent shouting out of key! Part of me wanted to join them though… If only I’d known the words!
