Here’s some photos of Sydney funk/soul/hiphop outfit Kid Confucius i took last Sunday.
They’re something a little different to the usual indie rock bands i shoot, but that’s a good thing. They’re a great band, recently winning ‘Best Urban Act’ at the Dance Music Awards.
With 8 people it was quite a challenge arranging people, getting the light right and getting a shot where no one’s blinking or looking a goose. We did a few different setups, some dark and moody, some bright and fun.
After the photos they also filmed a performance for a new music video. It was fun watching a private performance of the 8 piece band in the confines of a small studio.
As usual it was all shot at the excellent space of Blue Murder Studios.
UPDATE
Here’s the video which was partly shot in the studio. It’s rather good.
Hi there! I didn’t realize Kid Confucius had so many memebers. But I like the way you shot the images because it must be difficult to squeeze everyone in it without compromising their style. Cool pictures! All the best in 2007!
Damn Dan, love that ‘stacks on’ photo.. Very cool work indeed!
i like the third one best, too.
the highlights of the first and the faces shadows on the second one just don’t do it for me (even though i relaize how tricky it must’ve been with all those people) and the fact that you can see the edge of your white background in the fourth also puts me a little off. you see that sort of stuff all the time in the wire, but the photographers usually make it work by using it as a sort of commentary on the usual promo shot.
Nice shots!
know idea who you are but dreamt a daniel walsh was in trouble at a party googled and got this FREAKY (no im not on medication)lol and i believe your fine lol
Cute tattoo, Japanese shoe. Lyrical genius… Dylan you have nothing on that!
The photos are nice, but not a smile to be seen?
