Here’s some pictures from MGMT at the Hordern Pavilion on Tuesday.
Unfortunately photographers were escorted from the venue after 3 songs, so i can’t tell you what the show was like.
The first three tunes were a little lacklustre to my eyes – but according to the Time Out review they got better as the show went on.
The band sure have a strong teen girl following. The entire front row was a lather of excitable girls.
Normally i wear earplugs to protect my hearing from standing in front of the speakers. This time earplugs came in handy to counter the shrill squeels of teenagers suffering MGMT mania.
Photographed them last night and thought the same about the first three songs. Completely different sounding band to the one on record as well. The album has a certain charm about it but was a bit of a dirge live.
Hey Dan,
Were you able to use flash? if not what kind of ISO level were you using? seems like they had a decent light show to make up for it.
Cheers,
Nathan
Hey Nathan, no you can’t use flash during the show, but i use flash on the audience sometimes.
I was using 800-1000 iso.
There was lots of back-lighting and not much on the front, so it was difficult to get the faces well lit.
Ah ha! I thought you might’ve been there! I hardly saw any photographers that night and was wondering where you all went.
Love the first photo, Dan!
