Paul Dempsey recording Everything is True

Something for Kate frontman Paul Dempsey releases his first solo record today Everything is True, so i thought i’d post some snaps of a visit i made to his studio during the recording.

In January, on assignment from EMI,  i ventured down to MacMasters Beach where Paul and producer Wayne Connolly had set up a studio from scratch in a beach house.

I was told on the way down that the home was owned by someone from ‘the music industry’ but i wasn’t given a name. As i was sticky beaking around the place i noticed a shelf of ARIA and MTV Awards and at that point the game was up. It was Chris Joannou from Silverchair’s place.

Unlike most studios that are dark and claustrophobic this place was bright and serene, opening out onto a lush green garden.

While being known as a bit of a guitar nut, Paul is a virtuoso musician and played all the parts on the album, drums, keys, bass, melodica…

You can buy the album now and see Paul perform on tour throughout Australia.

  1. Not really a fan of Paul’s music, but you’ve seriously got to respect what he’s doing / done with this album.

And as always, nice photos Dan.
