Judd Apatow’s tragicomedy

Here’s a couple of snaps of film producer/writer/director and comedy it-boy Judd Apatow.

It was the usual quick 2 minute portrait in the hotel room before a 13 minute Time Out interview on a revolving door day of press for him, promoting his new film Funny People.

Because Funny People is a bit more heartfelt (Adam Sandler is dying of cancer) than his usual over the top comedies, i had an idea to get him to act out the faces of tragedy and comedy – like the famous masks.

Thankfully he was obliging and i think he enjoyed hamming it up. It was odd trying to direct the director – i kept having to say, “More sad!   I want to see it in your eyes!”
