Since issue 1 of Time Out Sydney there’s been a street style feature that i’ve photographed called Word on the Street.
It’s a pretty unashamed ‘homage’ to The Sartorialist.
This week i noticed that we’ve finally crossed paths on our subjects, a girl named Tiffany who i photographed in Paddington in November and was published in our December issue. The Sartorialist snapped her in Bondi and posted it last week.
The homage comes full circle. Annoyingly i think he got the better photo. She does have an arresting look.
The recent photo was the first time the same person has appeared in both Time Out and The Sartorialist, but it’s not the first time we’ve snapped the same subject.
In October the Sartorialistposted a photo of my friend Jeff in New York, who i’d previously snapped in some test shots for a Paul Dempsey shoot he assisted with.
Dan,
I think the truth is you are ahead of your time and have a great eye for style, maybe you should publish your photos in a book before the sartorialist does 😉
Maybe it’s because photographers go to the same places to snap interesting people?
I can’t wait for your exhibition Dan!
Rachel – Satorialist already has a book, but maybe you were joking. Dan should publish a book too anyway! Music & Style….

Jefske looks far hotter in your shots Dan. Those bedroom eyes.
