I almost skipped posting these, but i’ve got 6 years of photographing Homebake here, so i ought to keep up the tradition. It’s also the first music festival i ever photographed so i have a soft spot for it.
Any time you get an opportunity to see or photograph Nick Cave it’s a treat.
Shooting officially, you only get one song, not the standard three. But he gives a more visceral and compelling performance in one song than most bands do in their whole set.
A festival is largely about the crowd and atmosphere of the event, so i always try and capture that. I’m not keen on shooting hundreds of social snaps, i try for a more candid approach.
Anyway, back to the bands.
Awesome shots as always Dan. That’s an impressive set of tattoos, too.
Wicked photos man, what lens did you use?
It’s a mix of lenses.
The main stage shots were mostly with the Canon 70-200mm 2.8.
Most of the crowd shots were with the Canon 50mm 1.2.
And anything wider than that was on the Canon 16-35mm 2.8.
Thanks Dan, much appreciated! x
