Dave Rennick, shot in the lift of his apartment building Looking back over recent pictures there’s been a series of men in front of my lens. So i thought i’d collate them into a blog post. Dave Rennick I experimented a bit with colour gels and constant light (ie, not flash) for a portrait session with Andy Bull for his publicity shots. Flume Theatre legend John Bell, who is directing Tosca, shot in the wig room of Opera Australia. A bit more subdued from the last time i shot him. Theatre director Benedict Andrews shot during rehearsals for The Maids at Sydney Theatre Company. Benedict Andrews Ewen Leslie shot in the rehearsal space at Belvoir Theatre for a tongue in cheek article about how he acts. I did some pictures with Canadian musician Alex Zhang Hungtai, who performs as Dirty Beaches. They’ve appeared a fair bit, including NPR and Pitchfork. Alex was keen on neon lit street shots. So we wandered down the main drag of Kings Cross. I was really surprised the bouncers at this strip club let us shoot some pictures there, and didn’t mind being in the shot. You Am I, shot in a Surry Hills hotel lobby. Devilish Dean Bertram, the Director of the “A Night of Horror” film festival. Arts patron John Kaldor shot at the Kaldor Projects office for a feature in Time Out. Michael Butler, guitarist in the band Sheppard. Tom Williams Tom Williams on his front porch with his little kitten. Poet Mark Tredinnick photographed for a cover feature in World Literature Today magazine. Performance artist Justin Shoulder at his front door for a feature in Time Out. Justin Shoulder Share:TweetShare on Tumblr Related Post navigation Previous PostNext Post
Head On Portrait Prize material for sure. The colours in the Andy Bull portrait are brilliant.
Love this series, Dan!
