Between my regular work i managed to squeeze in some time to shoot a few pictures at Australian Fashion Week. I saw shows by Friedrich Gray, TV and Romance Was Born.

Apart from shooting Friedrich Gray last year, i’d never been to a fashion show before. Photo-wise it’s like shooting fish in a barrel, beautiful people made up in nice frocks makes for easy pictures.

It’s a bit of a mad house for photographers though, dozens of snappers all jockeying for the best position. I preferred shooting backstage where you have to be creative with light, and you can also snap some closer portraits of the models.

I don’t know much about fashion but i was mightily impressed by the Romance Was Born show. Held off the main site of Fashion Week, they took over the main hall of the Conservatorium of Music. With no runway as such, the models paraded up and down the aisles in a series of colourful tribal influenced outfits.
